Customer Reviews
"The scratching post that I highly recommend is made by TopCat Products. It's sisal-covered and the fabric is very tight and well done. The post is round so it's easy for a cat to get it's paws around it and for a kitten, this makes for great climbing. Initially, you can place the post on it's side and play with your kitty as he gets used to the feel of it. I think this post is the best out there. Another thing I like about the TopCat design is that it's hollow inside. This makes for an incredible sound when the kitties scratch it. I found that my kitties come running from the far ends of the house if they hear me running my nails along the sisal."

FAQs
What cat owners ask before choosing a vinyl base post.
-
What is a vinyl base scratching post?
A vinyl base scratching post uses a maple-grain vinyl platform instead of sisal on the base, paired with a woven, sisal-covered post. Do you prefer fabric? Try our sisal base scratching post.
-
Why choose a scratching post with a vinyl base?
Many owners search for a cat scratching post with a vinyl base because vinyl resists moisture and wears better than fabric. It won't soak up spills and wipes clean after daily use.
-
Are vinyl base scratching posts durable?
Yes. The vinyl finish is sealed on both sides to resist warping, and the metal attachment system keeps the post steady through years of regular scratching.
-
Is vinyl safe for cats?
Yes, vinyl is non-toxic and safe for cats to climb, sit, or rub against. It won't splinter or flake like painted wood can over time.
-
How stable is a vinyl base scratching post?
Very stable. The 16" x 16" base is wide enough to resist tipping, and nylon buttons on the bottom keep it from sliding on hardwood or tile.
-
How do I clean a vinyl base scratching post?
Wipe the vinyl base with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking the sisal post itself; shake out loose fibers and vacuum around the base instead.
-
Can I replace the base of a vinyl scratching post?
The vinyl base isn't sold separately, but you can replace the post that attaches to it. Order our 32" replacement post when the sisal wears down instead of replacing the whole unit.
